What are prism glasses?

Prism glasses are prescription glasses with special lenses, specifically designed
to correct diplopia (double vision).
Unlike regular eyeglass lenses that correct refractive errors,

prism lenses primarily address problems with eye alignment.

Prism glasses are prescription glasses with special lenses, designed to correct diplopia (double vision) and address problems with eye alignment.

How do prism eyeglasses work?

Double vision happens when there is a misalignment and the light entering the eyes focuses on two different areas of the retina rather than one.

Prism lenses help to redirect the light before it reaches the eye, ensuring it falls on the correct spot of the retina, producing one clear image.

FAQs

Prism glasses look exactly like regular prescription glasses, the only noticeable difference is the thickness of the lenses: prism glasses tend to be thicker.

Prism glasses are prescribed to treat different eye conditions like double vision, strabismus, eyestrain, or eye muscle imbalances.

The cost of the lenses can vary widely based on your prescription, the lenses you choose and other factors like lens coatings.

Yes, you can order lenses with a prism correction. Simply write the prism correction details into the additional information section when you're placing your order. The prism is usually written in fractions (for example 1 ½). The prism base shows the direction of the prism in the lens (for example, IN, OUT, UP or DOWN). It is normal to experience some slight distortion towards the edges of your lenses. Gradually increase the wear time of your new glasses over the first few days, for example, half-day wearing. Try to avoid going between your old and new glasses, as your eyes need time to get used to the new ones. You can also visit our aftercare guides for further tips and advice here.
