Secret Service Sunglasses
Filed Under Celebrity Watch, Designer Sunglasses
We’ve all heard the Washington DC joke: “How do you know when someone important has entered the room?….. He is followed by twelve men in black sunglass.” Recently I’ve been wondering if all secret service members shop at the same boutiques together on the weekends….after getting their manicures, of course. Naturally they all have the same tailor and, obviously, hair dresser. So what glasses are they wearing? The answer may surprise you! The secret service members seen throughout the presidential inauguration January 20th were wearing a wide array of designer and generic eyewear of various styles.
There seem to be a few key elements in all secret service sunglasses. First, they must have black lenses. Second, they must not block peripheral vision. Third, they must make you look like the Terminator. All of these key elements play important roles in these men’s precarious occupation. Dark shades will hide what the agent is looking at, decreasing paranoia in the crowd. They also act as an intimidation tool, one is hardly likely to storm a politician or celebrity when that person is surrounded by expressionless men with the same militaristic haircut. The importance of thin temple bars obviously allows peripheral movement to be visible. Thirdly, the Terminator look– that’s simply a job perk, one I’m sure they smile about on the weekends.
To get the secret service agent look, check out the Adidas line of endurance eyewear. Both sleek and professional, these sunglasses would look perfect behind any politician. Police sunglasses are becoming more and more popular, and are as crisp as a morning jogging session with a celebrity client. Finally, investigate the Calvin Klein look, both stylish and businesslike.
