The recently inaugurated President Barack Obama has brought style and fashion to the white house in the form of designer eyewear. His favorite shades, and the ones he was photographed in for Ebony Magazine prior to the election, are Ray-Bans. These shades, the RB3217 006/71 design, are black matte frames with weight on the upper brow-line and frameless on the bottom rim. They sport slightly green tinted lenses that serve to enhance contrast and look super cool and multi-weather appropriate. They are sleek, minimalist and to the point- much like his speeches and Presidential promises, and are sure to have record sales this spring as the multitudes embrace the Obama look.

Obama, who was sworn in on January 20th in front of the Capital building, is America’s 44th president, and more obviously, the country’s first African American president. After a whirlwind two years of campaigning that reached new technological and creative heights, Obama has taken office in style. A techno-junkie, he has refused to part with his Blackberry and has embraced modernity by setting up several websites, most notably the revamp of www.whitehouse.gov and his clarity site called www.recovery.gov, which will monitor government spending and make his administration as transparent as possible. This man, who has embraced rather than shrunk from technology, has modernized the white house in little more than a few days in office. His sense of technology as functionality is not impeding his sense of style, and the president retains this through his accessories like the ever-popular and sleek Ray-Bans and his sidekick Blackberry phone.
