Sunglasses for all Seasons
Filed Under Uncategorized | View Comments
Summer sunglasses are a different breed than winter ones, but there are a few brands of eyewear that are perfect for all seasons. For anyone on a budget, these shades are sure to be something you’ll want to invest in for their versatility and reuse value. Designer eyewear is never out of season and Prada even more so. For sunglasses that you can wear year round, consider that Prada’s well known brand, their casual designs and simple lines and colors make it a look that is so versatile and alive that it is suitable for all seasons and nearly all occasions.
If you are not a Prada fan, and many of us are not simply because of the brand’s widespread appeal and the sheer number of obvious copies and fakes on the market, then there are more obscure and equally sexy brands on the market that will have a look that works for you. Consider a brand like Carrera or Bolle, both have high-quality somewhat sporty and versatile sunglasses that can be worn across the seasons and across various outdoor activities. For someone with an active lifestyle it is a poor choice not to buy a fine pair of designer shades that are versatile. In the end, you’ll appreciate your purchase and thus use the sunglasses more often (always a benefit to your fragile and easily-damaged eyes).
I’ve always thought that if you buy a high-quality item you’ll treat it with more respect and it will last longer because it is a better product. Buying cheap sunglasses that you lose or throw away when damaged is an entirely different and lesser experience then buying a pair you’ll love, keep safe and wear constantly.

Men’s Casual Eyewear
Filed Under Brand Wave, Designer Sunglasses, Eyewear Knowledge, Fun with Eyewear | View Comments
Casual eyewear for men is an easy assignment. Making any man look dignified and sexy can be achieved with eyewear. Don’t believe me? Order a pair of Prada sunglasses and wear them with your normal clothing and you’ll instantly get more comments from both men and women, as well as a bit more respect from everyone around you. Give it a try, it could, quite literally, change how people look at you.
Serengeti sunglasses, for men, are a great and sexy look. They add a bit of casual flare to any look and the tan and gold frames and lenses give your look an extremely put together vibe that looks like it takes more time and energy than it actually does. For any driving, yachting or fan of equestrian sports, Serengeti sunglasses are a key asset to your wardrobe. A man driving in Serengeti sunglasses is not a man on the way to work, but an adventurer on the road of life… at least that is what the ladies will assume when they see a confident man in high casual fashionable sunglasses.
For occasions where a bit more fancy clothing is in order, a tux or suit for example, you’ll want to dress up your face with fashionable designer eyewear. If an outdoor occasion, sexy sunglasses will perfect the look. I’d go Serengeti or Police for men, and that is a sure thing for almost any face shape and skin color. For a bit more edge with your dress-up clothing, think Carrera or Prada for men, both of which will give you a more vibrant and youthful look.

Fall Fashion Fast Forward
Filed Under Brand Wave, Designer Sunglasses, Eyewear Knowledge | View Comments
There is literally no time like the present to start thinking about your autumn wardrobe. The bright and gay colors of summer hardly fit the fall season, and you’ll need to be up to date as well as fashionable unique to turn heads this year. Your tried and true summer Carrera sunglasses may need a fall upgrade to something heavier and darker, in addition to heavier clothing and more textured fabrics.
Autumn fashion is a bit more complex than summer styles. You’ll need comfort and warmth as well as versatility indoors and out, and yet retaining a bit of fashion without loosing efficiency. Let’s work from the head downwards to the toes. Your hair, in summer, is usually in a ponytail or otherwise off your body to reduce heat. In fall, lock curly locks add weight and charm. To soften the look, pair longer, fuller hair with thicker sunglasses, making the proportions more accurate. Prada is great for this equalizing effect.
Moving down, full sweaters can add bulk without adding much fashion, instead layers are a stylish way to reveal your shape while still staying warm. Pairing a low-cut V-neck sweater with a lace undershirt could be chilly, but add a thin scarf and you are seasonally appropriate and the added piece of flare gives you style credit and a chance to add color and texture into your wardrobe. Minimize the jewelry in fall, instead focusing on larger splashes like the scarf or a charming belt.
Shoes are always fun in fall, with plenty of stylish boot and heel options that keep you warm and chic. Matching your bag and shoes, an old method, is never a bad one. But don’t get too many things in your outfit to match or you’ll come across as OCD. Finally, corduroy or wool pants and skirts add texture and dimension without deleting style.

Fashion Missteps
Filed Under Brand Wave, Celebrity Watch, Designer Sunglasses, Eyewear Knowledge | View Comments
Although they live in the limelight, celebrities are not immune to major fashion blunders. Check out Madonna in these childish and outdated Christian Dior – Bagatelle S sunglasses. The combination of the pigtails, wide-brimmed hat and overly contrived sunglasses make Madonna look more like a teenage girl trying to play dress up then an award winning artist spanning several generations. It doesn’t take too many forays in public dressed like an amateur for the public to turn on you, and Madonna is walking a thin line with her recent fashion choices.
We expect a certain amount of bad fashion from some people, Courtney Love comes to mind, but from our A-list celebrities we expect immaculate fashion, albeit a bit edgy or overdone. Taking a quick look at the fashion blunders of Courtney Love is an easy way to see what not to do. Here she pairs an otherwise lovely pair of Dolce & Gabbana DG 4040G sunglasses with wild, unkempt hair and a lack of makeup. This just goes to show that it isn’t the designer items you buy, but how you pair them to make an overall image of fashion and beauty. These strong sunglasses require clean lines, like hair in a bun and bold lipstick. They certinaely don’t fit Love’s face shape or hair color. She should stick to brown and copper-toned eyewear, or more elaborate designs like those of Alexander McQueen, but she should not wear oversized frames with wild hair, they make her ears look like they are sliding off her head.

Miu Miu Hits Celebrity Top List
Filed Under Brand Wave, Celebrity Watch, Designer Sunglasses | View Comments
We’ve long believed that Prada’s latest creation of MiuMiu would become a success at the highest levels of fashion. For big shot fashion lover Paris Hilton to start wearing a brand it had better be an A-list. Recently, Paris was caught in a fashionable pair of Miu Miu MU 021S sunglasses in black with gradient lenses. On her fragile and squared features, the sharpness of the frames gives her a more edgy look than her normal pink and paisley wardrobe affords.
Ashley Simpson, not necessarily an A-list diva but famous none-the-less, has also taken a fancy to Miu Miu sunglasses. Her recent debut in Miu Miu MU 051S sunglasses in black with gradient lenses gives her the look of a rustic and yet elegant modern princess. She isn’t the most popular star (especially since her lip-syncing performance on Saturday Night Live, but her individualistic sense of fashion has long been intriguing.
Miu Miu has hit upon the perfect blend of edginess and femininity. For women who need to be in the spot light, or who have a divine sense of fashion that is higher than the average wanna-be diva’s, Miu Miu provides a rare blend of perfectly crafted fashion and yet a more obscure brand, giving the person wearing the frames a bit of street-wise fashion credit.
To get the same look, simply put a bit of attention into your hair do for the day, either retro or wild, and slap on a pair of dark Miu Miu oversized sunglasses and you’ll have instant intrigue.

Brand Name, But Not Designer

Purchasing designer eyewear shouldn’t be something you do on a whim while at the mall with friends. There is a huge difference, for example, between buying a pair of decent Old Navy sunglasses while you are out looking for a fresh new wardrobe, and spending quality time investigating the perfect sunglasses look for your natural features. Dior, Prada and Versace are well known and respected brands for a reason, they make high-quality products that are lasting in their style, durability and charm. Any real fashion fan knows that mid-level brand eyewear only serves to make you look like a poser.
Rather than picking up a cheap pair of sunglasses next time you happen to be at Sears or Hot Topic, keep in mind that your face is the most important asset you have. You want to make it look as good as possible, enhancing your natural features and complimenting your beauty with style rather than masking your face in fads. A real fashion star is aware of the subtle differences and can distinguish which looks are gaudy and which are godly.
Your first move should be to read some of our past blogs on how to find the perfect sunglasses to match your face. This encompasses how to math your skin and hair tones to your glasses, as well as how to find a style to fit your shape. You’ll also want to spend some time flipping through magazines or online to see what styles you are drawn to. Keep in mind that even if you love a look it might not be right for you, but its good to have an idea of what you really would love. Now, compile them all together and you’ll be able to spend your money once on a designer pair of sunglasses that will make you look like a star.

Eyewear Solutions for the Working Woman
Filed Under Brand Wave, Designer Eyeglasses, Eyewear Knowledge | View Comments
Waking up early isn’t a fun task for most of us, but for those of us with poor eyesight it can be even more of a chore. If you wear glasses, you spend several minutes getting your make up perfect only to mess up the overall look by slipping into your glasses. If you wear contacts, you spend the first few minutes putting them in and then wiping the residue solution off your cheeks. With a busy day ahead, the last thing you want on your mind is how you’ll be dealing with your shoddy vision that day. Here are some quick tips to helping you ease into the work day in style, without taking time out of our routine.
First, soak your glasses in water and soap over night at least once a month. This removes built up oil and grime and makes them easy to clean throughout the month. You’ll also want to carry solution and a cloth with you so you can easily and quickly return to your day should get a smear on your lenses. I have a small lens cleaning kit in my purse (it came free with my eyeglasses when I ordered from Smart Buy Glasses) and it also has a handy tool attached for tightening the tiny screws. If anything should happen to my lenses while I’m at work I have the tools to fix them and carry on.
Some days, however, I just don’t feel like wearing glasses so I pop in my contacts. Since I have dry eyes, I wear ClearVision contact lenses, which help keep my eyes moist. Even so, I carry a small vile of solution to keep my eyes watery throughout the day, a hard task since looking at a computer screen for hours on end ccan be daunting to eye health.
