Jamie Foxx Sunglasses
Filed Under Designer Sunglasses | View Comments
Jamie Foxx showed up and wowed the public with his performance at the 52nd Grammy Awards in Paul Smith sunglasses, the PS Bolan PS 40135, a great look for Jamie’s soft features. These masculine frames bring dimension to his face without overpowering it and still paying homage to his soft skin and clean-lined look. Despite his rapping performance that was infused with surprise appearances and a fun cast of back-up singers, Foxx remained in command of the stage and fully engrossed in the performance (which started out as an opera with full concert support).
T-Pain, who sang with Jamie Foxx and Slash, rocked the Grammy’s in Carrera Safari A style sunglasses, a great surfing look that comes in bold colors and streamlined designs. He wore bright blue frames with black tinted lenses, a look that worked well with his wild hair, suit and celebrity status. The look works for him though we wouldn’t recommend it for just anybody. It takes a lot of personality or brawn to pull of a stylish but bold design like the Safari A style.
In true rapper fashion, Jay-Z arrived with the beautiful, award-winning Beyonce on his arm and Oliver People’s Daddy B style sunglasses that looked retro and fresh on his face. His humble and supportive role for as hubby for Beyonce seemed enough for this rapping delight at the Grammys, though he took time to thank singing sensation Rihanna. This little bit of drama was enough to leave many scratching their heads as to why Mr. Z would feature Rihanna and not Beyonce, whose vocal talents and fashion forwardness far surpass Rihanna’s.

Goodbye, Alexander McQueen
Filed Under Brand Wave, Celebrity Watch, Designer Sunglasses | View Comments
Alexander McQueen was well known in the fashion industry as an icon of modern avant garde design. With innovative and experimental fashion, he managed to bridge the gap between futuristic and fashionable, making new materials and shapes feminine and sexual and expanding the repertoire of the fashion world by leaps and bounds.
Sadly, Alexander McQueen’s recent and tragic death will be felt by the fashion community as a sore loss. His creativity and vision will leave a shining gold path for future designers, and the designs left uncreated due to his early demise are a dark spot in the fashion realm. Having designed for Givenchy, Gigli, and Gucci before launching his own very successful label, McQueen was most well known for designing the “bumster” which spawned the subsequent low-rise jean fad that persists to this day.
If that were not enough for one designer to achieve in his career, McQueen also holds the title of the youngest designer to achieve the British Designer of the Year award, which he won four times. He was also International Designer of the Year in 2000, and had stores across the globe. He was well sought after by other design houses, when Gucci acquired Alexander McQueen (the label) Mr. McQueen came on board as creative director, and was actively involved in the company’s new direction. Later, McQueen expanded his resume by helping design shoes for Puma, and a MAC make-up line inspired by Cleopatra and Elizabeth Taylor, which meant McQueen was free to fuse modern technology and avant garde Egyptian colors to result in a fashionable and fresh alternative for women’s make up.

Ryan Seacrest Sunglasses
Filed Under Designer Sunglasses | View Comments
American Idol’s star presenter Ryan Seacrest has amazing fashion sense. There is unlikely to be any argument on that point. His classic sense of style is reminiscent of the Rat Pack, where men’s fashion meant something important about a person’s integrity and charisma. His Ray Ban eyewear coupled with sexy, form-fitted suits and traditional, non-obnoxious ties make him one of the best dressed in Hollywood, hands down. While other stars are trying to leave their mark by dressing up and acting out while Ryan made his way to the big time in style, without compromising himself (at least in the fashion sense).
Ryan has been a staple of the show since its inception. With Paula Abdul gone and Simon Cowell on the way out next season, Ryan Seacrest and Randy Jackson will be the only two remaining original cast members on America’s highest ranking TV show. So where will the show go next year, if it exists at all? What if the show loses Ryan Seacrest, will any more women even care to watch the show without the show’s main heartthrob?
Ryan’s fashion sense is something to be lauded and respected. His throw-back sense of style is unparalleled in Hollywood. While we love simply everything about his look, we think he could couple his classic suits with a few pairs of more risky eyewear, like the masculine designs of Police eyewear. Police has been praised by some of Hollywood’s most revered male icons, including George Clooney, Antonio Bandaras, Justin Timberlake and more. Ryan could easily join that group and give Police eyewear a classical look.

Taylor Swift Sunglasses
Filed Under Designer Sunglasses | View Comments
Taylor Swift came out of nowhere, literally. While her passion has always been in music, it was only recently (with the debut album titled Tim McGraw) that Swift made her way into the hearts of millions of Americans.
Her sense of fashion is decidedly a throwback to 1920s Hollywood glamour. To match her style, check out the retro looks of Tom Ford and the new yet classic styles by Jimmy Choo. She always appears with perfectly made up hair and makeup and in classic-cit dresses. For a young star (21) she has quickly made her way from a small-time singer to the number one female recording artist of 2009. She matches retro glamour and modern fashion in a way that is far more developed than her age, yet she pulls it off naturally, as if born a few decades too late.
At the 2010 Grammy Awards Ceremony, Swift performed “Fairy Tale” in front of a crowd of peers and fans and even sand with Stevie Nicks, marking her status in Hollywood as legitimate. While many in the music industry thought she would be a flash in the pan, Swift has demonstrated that she is there to stay. Her humble attitude and ability to write and perform hit after hit shows that she has tapped into the American psyche perfectly. With a mix of perfect fashion and talent that really exceeds her experience and age, Swift earned endless applause at the 2010 Grammys.

Michael Cera Sunglasses remodel
Filed Under Designer Sunglasses | View Comments
Since Arrested Development, Michael Cera has blossomed into an awkward youth with a booming career. His awkward pubescent style has caught on with people across America, and he even has a fashion fan following—a group of teens willing to don Ray Bans and sneakers in an attempt to follow Cera’s authentic teen angst appeal into the new year.
But we have a few tips for Cera, in case he ever decides to get rid of his Goodwill button-up T-shirt collection. We think Cera would look great in green, and we would slap his scrawny body in a simply green T-shirt (no buttons or zippers, mind you). To add a bit of extra edge we’d even make that shirt have a band logo of some obscure Indy pop band like the Red Hot Valentines. Over this classy shirt we’d dress this geeky cutie in a simple black leather jacket—the kind Maverick would wear if Top Gun was filmed today. Cera should wear boot-cut dark denim and simple black shoes with this ensemble. And for the détente—a pair of black, sinfully hot Police sunglasses. These shades would work for Cera because they are modern, manly and give the right amount of sex appeal without making it seem like the poor lad is compensating for anything.
Pairing cool sunglasses with black leather isn’t a new idea, by any means, but making Michael Cera look cool without being cliché would be impossible. We think the indie pop T-shirt and simple shoes will keep him grounded in his own personality while the jacket and sunglasses will give his look exactly what the ladies have been looking for.

Top Ways to Buy Sunglasses Online
Filed Under Eyewear Knowledge | View Comments
When buying designer eyewear, like Prada or Oakley shades, online, you’ll want to consider two things before making any purchase: 1) is the company reputable, and; 2) is the eyewear authentic. Here is a bit of
information on how to judge your online eyewear provider.
Look for a testimonials or happy customer’s page on the seller’s website. This kind of chatter can really help ease a new buyer’s mind, because it means previous buyers were so happy they went out of their way to thank the company.
Look for a guarantee on all sales. If anything happens to your eyewear, you want a company that stands behind the products they sell. Buying online is easy, quick and painless, and getting your merchandise in the mail couldn’t be more worry-free. For a bit of added peace-of-mind, the guarantee can go a long way.
Look for breadth of options on the site. Some sites will offer a few products at a discount rate, be wary of such sites because they often don’t last, which means if you have a problem down the road your company may no longer be around to help you out. With a large array of items, a company is more likely to stay in business, and be there for you. Look for a range of products as well, like sunglasses, eyeglasses and contacts.
Look for deals. Reputable and respected companies like to give people a chance to get in on a great deal. Look for products on sale, clearance or special deals associated with the company.

With the winter snows melting quickly away, the time to start considering your spring wardrobe is fast approaching. As you pack away your fleece and wool, keep in mind that your eyewear for spring should be unique to the season, like a fresh pair of baby blue Ray Ban Wayfarers.
Spring is about birth, renewal, life, color and the return of Mother Nature from her annual slumber. Spring colors are usually pastel or bright to signify and pay homage to the return of nature’s natural colors. Spring fashion usually involves a mix of flowers and patterns, more lightweight fabrics and hair styles, and a more playful and fun general attitude towards fashion accessories like eyewear, purses and shoes.
Eyewear is a unique arena for your spring wardrobe overhaul. Think lightweight. Think rejuvenation. If you wore heavy frames all winter, consider doing the opposite this spring. Frameless indoor eyewear is the best option for a lighter, fresher feel. For springtime sunglasses, a fashionable person would consider bright, light and fun the three primary traits for spring-specific sunglasses. Brands like Prada, Versace and Gucci are all great for serious events and black dresses but for spring they are too serious, too black and, dare I say it, too fashionable. We want to look playfully put together, not professionally assembled.
In the spirit of rejuvenation, sporty sunglasses are all the rage in spring. Bolle for women are especially fetching and fresh, and give the added sense of adventure and fun that other brands make up for in high fashion. For men, Police sunglasses are always great, but this spring step outside your normal boundaries and try a pair of Oakley sunglasses, which are more for sports and outdoors and thus more in tune with the season.
