In a rare collaboration of three companies towards one goal, D-mented Entertainment has joined arms with Ray-Ban’s Luxottica Group and Kerner Optical for the creation and launch of personal 3-D designer eyewear. In an era of Disney, DreamWorks and other 3D films (like the amazing Beowulf 3D creation), these companies believe viewers will crave high-quality, designer 3D eyewear to bring to these films in lieu of the cardboard or plastic 3D glasses provided by cinemas. Though a bit of a commercial risk, the 3D glasses, I admit, would be an amazing accessory for any avid film buff. A truly must have for those who make visiting the 3D Imax a ritual.

The 3D lenses will be mounted in Ray-Ban Wayfarer frames, adding a touch of class and timelessness to the already innovative idea of 3D designer eyewear. Kerner Optical is working on making prescription-capable 3D lenses, in addition to other features soon to be announced.

These companies collaborated because they firmly believe that 3D will be the next major wave of innovation in the home entertainment industry. Soon, you home TV will be 3D capable, and whole sections of films will be made 3D ready through a soon-to-be affordable conversion. Computer designers are working on 3D computers while video games have already breeched the gap with virtual reality. Though not ready for the mass consumer population, 3D games are sure to be announced soon. Thus, this trinity of cooperation foresees a world of 3D electronics and soon, everyone will want a pair of their own, high-quality, safe and classy designer 3D glasses.

The final Ray-Ban product is set to be released soon.

Fashion can sometimes be overwhelming. For the fashion-fumbled, Dior, Prada and other runway shows can appear to cat-walk some unexplainable looks. It is not a straight-forward industry and often fashion looks meant to inspire, spark and ignite innovation can have the opposite effect. For those who prefer to keep it safe and stick with traditional tried-and-true looks, here are a list of the top three brands for simplicity, class and everlasting style so that you don’t have to decipher the Milan and New York fashion shows in order to be hip and cool.

FENDI eyeglasses are a sure thing for any traditionalist. Though they also sport some innovative and creative designs, you are sure to find a pair of traditional, name-brand eyewear that fits your own personal style. Kenye West, who is known for his creative sense of style, is an avid Fendi fan, and even arrived at a Fendi party with his hair cute into the Fendi logo. Kanye is at the forefront of men’s fashion, but keeps it traditional with his shades.

Diesel eyewear is perfect for the traditionalist with rugged appeal. With sharp, clean lines and rectangular lenses, the Diesel look is equally appropriate for the cowboy or executive alike. The frames are simple yet sharp, and allow the wearer to appear up-to-date but without the frill and fluff of high fashion. Diesel also carries other manly accessories, but be wary of over-doing it with one brand.

Burberry eyewear is, for men, a bit more classy and cultured than the previously mentioned designs. This look should be taken advantage of by businessmen, yachters and others who want to display their sense of style and worldliness with a name-brand accessory and ever-so-subtle innovation. For the traditionalist who spends his days in a suit, Burberry is a look of elegance and style, luxury and class.

The recently inaugurated President Barack Obama has brought style and fashion to the white house in the form of designer eyewear. His favorite shades, and the ones he was photographed in for Ebony Magazine prior to the election, are Ray-Bans. These shades, the RB3217 006/71 design, are black matte frames with weight on the upper brow-line and frameless on the bottom rim. They sport slightly green tinted lenses that serve to enhance contrast and look super cool and multi-weather appropriate. They are sleek, minimalist and to the point- much like his speeches and Presidential promises, and are sure to have record sales this spring as the multitudes embrace the Obama look.

Obama, who was sworn in on January 20th in front of the Capital building, is America’s 44th president, and more obviously, the country’s first African American president. After a whirlwind two years of campaigning that reached new technological and creative heights, Obama has taken office in style. A techno-junkie, he has refused to part with his Blackberry and has embraced modernity by setting up several websites, most notably the revamp of www.whitehouse.gov and his clarity site called www.recovery.gov, which will monitor government spending and make his administration as transparent as possible. This man, who has embraced rather than shrunk from technology, has modernized the white house in little more than a few days in office. His sense of technology as functionality is not impeding his sense of style, and the president retains this through his accessories like the ever-popular and sleek Ray-Bans and his sidekick Blackberry phone.

Teenagers are constantly starting new fads in an effort to stand out, define themselves of just vent creativity. The two biggest fashions right now with sunglasses are the Ray Ban Aviators, back in high style, and oversized sunglasses like Fendi that are intensely popular among the young. Recently, fashion, a constantly morphing, intangible sense of style, has leaned towards the larger-than-life styles of yesteryear. Bringing back the gradated tinting of the 60s and mixing that style with larger frames and rounder, thicker temple bars.

If you look at slightly older celebrities, you still see some of the youth style, but that sense of clinging to fads fades with age, and elder celebs and civilians alike tend to retire to more practical frames. There is less spontaneity and more class. The colors are less drastic and they create a more sophisticated look. When you see even older stars, the large frames go away and sunglasses that are more conservative are favored among both male and female celebrities. The youthful large frames lose their appeal and are replaced by more mature sunglasses that serve more practical purposes (bifocals, light-sensitive transition lenses or peripheral glare blockers) rather than simply a cosmetic addition.

Large and ostentatious sunglasses are outgrown at some point and no longer look acceptable considering age. Just as kids who wear designer frames like Police look out of place, so do adults wearing neon colors and huge lenses. The best thing you can do to follow the fashion fluctuations is to play it safe by wearing classic styles that never fade. You can’t go wrong with normal color sunglasses like black or grey instead of bright blue or yellow, and without any of the frilly designs or elaborate earpieces. That kind of style belongs to the celebrities who have the need to show off their personality, and the layman can be content with everlasting style like Ray Bans.

Mariah Carey, the awe-inspiring Hollywood actress and singer, is a Christian Dior fan. She was seen wearing the classy “Diorly 1” sunglasses with the trademark D in rhinestones boasting wire thin earpieces at last years MTV awards. These sunglasses are extremely popular among the stars, especially with female vocalists like Carey, Jennifer Lopez and Gwen Stefani. The rimless lenses are becoming increasingly sought after as they better enhance your vision without distracting frames, which can often detract from an overall ensemble. The larger lenses also block out more light while the gradient tint creates a celebrity-worthy style that has been increasing in popularity since late 2008.

The “Diorly 1” design comes in many different colors and the lenses, frames and D trademark can be customized to match your fashion needs. The most popular look for 2009 includes gold frames with tan or brown gradient tinting, which is the design Ms. Carey has been flaunting recently.

Mariah Carey, who won the World Music Award for best selling female pop artist in 2000, is one of the top names in her profession. Since her career started in 1990, she has skyrocketed to popularity with additional singing contracts as well as several film and TV appearances. She has won five Grammy Awards, as well as numerous other recognitions for her singing and acting talents. Like Gwen Stefani, she is known for her fashion sense, and is looked to for inspiration in creating a down-to-earth look that is both urban and distinctly Hollywood.

The kind of popularity and following Mariah Carey has demands a constant upgrading of her style to keep her look as fresh and lively as her music. Therefore, her sunglasses, as the biggest accessory, have to be the best. Christian Dior’s Diorly 1 design helps her stay at the forefront of accessible fashion with a look that is both tried-and-true and creative and new.
